The values of the Brazilian Red Cross of São Gonçalo are focused on the Fundamental Principles of the Brazilian Red Cross in all countries:
Humanity
Concern to provide help, indistinctly, to the wounded whether in battle or catastrophe situation, tragedy or emergency at the international and national level. Aiming to prevent and alleviate human suffering under any circumstances. Protect life and health, ensuring respect for human beings. Promote mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace among all peoples.
Impartiality
We make no discrimination based on nationality, race, religion, social status or political opinion. It seeks only to alleviate human suffering, giving priority to the most urgent cases of misfortune.
Neutrality
In order to deserve everyone's trust, we refrain from taking sides in hostilities or from participating, at any time, in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
Independence
We are independent. The National Societies, auxiliaries of the public authorities in their humanitarian activities, subject to the laws that govern their respective countries, must, however, maintain their autonomy, in order to always be able to act in accordance with our Fundamental Principles.
Volunteering
The Red Cross is a non-profit voluntary aid institution.
Unit
There can only be one Red Cross Society in each country. It is open to all and carries out its humanitarian action throughout its territory. This Society may have representatives and Branches.
Universality
We are a worldwide institution, in which all Societies have equal rights and share equal responsibilities and duties, helping each other.
